OK so I own a gallery… BUT I also have peeps in the business world, and we have had many a late night discussion on Artists approaching stores/galleries etc…

Here’s what I know and you should too…

Go in… And when you do, LOOK PRESENTABLE. OK you are an artist… SO AM I. But FIRST impressions are important. IF you happen to be shopping and engage a business owner… That is different. IF you come into a place of business. ( important word here is BUSINESS) be prepared. (The boy scouts got that ONE right… 🙂 Look around see/ what they have/ get price points/ ask IF you can talk to someone or make an appointment to talk to someone. DROP in’s NOT good…VALUE their time. Stop in again if this isn’t a good time for them, ask if that is OK and when. Don’t assume a week if fine, might need to be a few months, businesses get crazy busy from Nov-Feb. Not always your best time. Not always a bad one either so try. MOST IMPORTANT: KNOW your prices. No one wants to do your work they have enough on their plate. I hope this doesn’t sound harsh I am trying to be clear and help YOU to be successful!!!
